A new loan won't reduce your present debt. It will only reshuffle the credit problems you already have. In addition, you can lose your home if you fall behind on mortgage payments. a debt elimination program from Community Credit Counselling Services could allow you to make smaller payments and reduce the monies owed by up to 60% in some cases without putting your home at risk.
Bankruptcy should always be a last resort. In the short term, bankruptcy sounds good to many people. After all, what could be better than having the majority of your debt wiped clean?
